My European Adventure (Summer ’22)

First of all, let me say THANK YOU again to all of the generous friends who sponsored my trip. It truly would not have been the same without you. While it would be impossible to share all of the amazing places I visited while I was away, here are a few of my favorite meals and experiences:

Viewing pieces by some of the world’s most famous contemporary artists at Art Basel:

Swimming / floating down the Rhine River:

Touring La Cite du Vin and Le Musée du Vin et du Négoce de Bordeaux:

Waiting in line for nearly an hour and a half for a delicious steak dinner at L’Entrecôté, a local favorite with only two items on the menu, steak and french fries (it doesn’t accept reservations):

Driving out to the countryside for a tour of Bordeaux’s vineyards:

Listening to the organ play at Lyon’s Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste:

Strolling the the botanical garden and mini-zoo at the Parc de la Tête d’Or:

Listening to a demonstration (in French) of how traditional silk workers produce Jacquard fabric at the Maison des Canuts:

Enjoying this beef bourguignon at a Michelin star restaurant after a long day of walking:

Taking a private food and wine tour to taste some of Portugal’s most famous dishes including snails, sardines, sausage, and more:

Attempting to play Bingo at a hole-in-the-wall Bingo bar but failing miserably because the numbers were being called only in Portuguese:

Taking a Port wine tour (and sampling the goods, of course):

Celebrating the Festa de São João like the locals… with beer, sardines, and whacking strangers on the head with toy hammers:

Walking through the gardens and archiecture of Madrid:

Admiring an architecture exhibit at the Crystal Palace of Arganzuela:

Taking an audio tour of the Bullfighting Museum in Madrid (although I don’t support the sport due to ethical concerns, it was interesting tot learn about its history):

Immersing myself in the digital Klimt exhibit:

Watching a late night flamenco show with a cold glass of sangria:

Finally eating some vegetables in the form of this absolutely amazing mango chicken salad:

Making the long trek to Park Güell to view the innovative architecture:

Oggling unique pieces of history at the Erotic Museum:

Viewing the Sagrada Família from the outside because touring tickets were completely sold out:

Relaxing at the beach:
